Remove Thermostat Handle Left – Dornbracht

Article number: 34443979-00

Type: Dornbracht thermostatic base element (series-neutral, used among others in VAIA / TARA finishing sets)

Problem

The left mixer tap handle does not come loose, preventing the cartridge from being removed or replaced.

Important to know

This article number concerns a Dornbracht thermostatic base element that is used in multiple series (including VAIA and TARA).

The visible style (handles and finish) determines the series, not the built-in part itself.

Solution

The handle can become stuck firmly due to use and internal locking. Follow the steps below to release it safely:

Step 1 – close handle completely

Turn the left handle clockwise until the stop. This reduces tension on the mechanism.

Step 2 – release handle

Then grip the handle firmly with both hands.

Pull the handle straight forward with a controlled, firm movement. This is also known in practice as a "breaking movement".

Note: this may feel firm, but is the normal disassembly method.

Step 3 – remove cartridge

After removing the handle, the thermostat cartridge can be unscrewed and replaced.

Important

  • No damage to the base element will occur if executed correctly
  • Do not use tools to pry the handle loose
  • Only pull manually and straight forward
  • All spare parts already ordered remain usable
