When the Pushboy valve does not close properly, this is often due to the tension or assembly of the tension spring.
Problem: valve does not stay closed
A newly supplied tension spring may sometimes provide insufficient tension if it is not installed correctly. As a result, the valve does not close properly or remains open.
Cause
In most cases, the spring is not positioned correctly. The tension is then not built up properly.
The tension spring must be installed correctly in order to create sufficient pressure.
Solution: correct installation of the tension spring
The tension spring must be positioned as follows:
- The spring must be pulled over a small ridge on one side
- This creates extra tension on the spring
- The spring must be on the side of the mechanism, not in the middle
- This is best done with pliers
When done correctly, the valve will have enough force to stay closed properly.
